Biographical Note

Dr. Wafaa El-Sadr, who began her career as the HIV epidemic took hold in the United States, is the founder and director of ICAP and an international expert in infectious diseases and public health. She is also the director of Columbia World Projects and director of the Mailman School's Global Health Initiative (GHI). She joined the faculty of Columbia's College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1988; in 2013, she was appointed University Professor, Columbia's highest academic title.
